Mohammedan Sporting eyes I-League preparation in Durand, trying to rope in a defender and striker from Ghana

The club has already organized a lodging arrangement in the city for the family members of the team's Manipuri goalkeeping coach Lalit Thapa.

In a bid to strengthen its team before the I-League this season, Mohammedan Sporting has decided to reshuffle its team which is participating in the ongoing CFL Premier Division. The club has already roped in two foreign central midfielders, Mirjalol Kasimov from Uzbekistan and Alexis Fransis from Argentina. Both arrived in the city on Sunday. 

According to club secretary Ishtiaque Ahmed, two more footballers, a defender and a striker from Ghana is likely to arrive in the city shortly. 

The secretary stated, "Looking forward to I-league his season we are in the process of strengthening the team. We already discussed with the coach Mehrajuddin Wadoo regarding the issue. Along with the foreigners, a couple of experienced and quality Indian footballers might be roped in before the forthcoming Durand Cup which will be our preparatory competition for the I-league."

Mohammedan Sporting is scheduled to kick off in the Durand Cup on 5th August against Mumbai City at Kishore Bharati Stadium. Kerala Blasters is also in their group. 

However, the club has already organized a lodging arrangement in the city for the family members of the team's Manipuri goalkeeping coach Lalit Thapa. His family members were somehow managing to stay in a temporary camp in the state. Secretary added, "We already have offered our seven Manipuri footballers to bring their family members to Kolkata as our arrangement for their family has already been done."
