Mohammedan Sporting plans to increase the height of fencing to stop fans from intruding on the ground

Eleven Bengali footballers have been recruited this season out of which eight might be registered for the CFL Premier League.

The club officials have not forgotten the uncomfortable scenario when the supporters, fumed at the referee jumped over the fencing at the club ground and intruded on the ground, rushing toward the referee during the match against Army Eleven in the last CFL Premier League. The team lost the game by a solitary goal.

So, Mohammedan Sporting top brass, before their team starts its campaign in the CFL Premier League against Wari AC on Tuesday at the Kishore Bharati Stadium revealed they are planning to increase the height of the fencing at the club ground so that the fans cannot cross the fencing and break into the ground.

Club secretary Ishtiaque Ahmed revealed in a media conference on Monday, “We have appealed to the state PWD department through the IFA to increase the fencing at our ground. We are expecting the team will be able to play at home from our next CFL match on 1st July. We were supposed to play the inaugural match at home tomorrow but one of our floodlights is not operating properly. We have simultaneously appealed to the PWD through the IFA to repair the press box also."

However, Mohammedan Sporting, the defending champion will play the League this season with almost a new side where only four to five footballers including the captain Tanmoy Ghosh were with the team last season. They will vie for the title under a new coach Hakim SSengendo who worked as the team’s coach in the RFDL this season.

Still, former India international and the club’s football secretary Dipendu Biswas sounded optimistic about the team's performance. He explained that their first objective is to create the supply line for the team as 11 Bengali footballers have been recruited this season out of which eight will be registered for the CFL Premier League.

“I can say strikers like Robinson Singh (Manipur), Israful Dewan (Bengal), and Lalrothlanga from Mizoram can be the find-out of the season just as David, Lalremsanga, Bikash were discovered in the CFL Premier League last season. I also believe these boys have the potential even to defend the title this season,” opined Dipendu.
