Mohammedan Sporting plans to rope in Santosh Trophy-winning Karnataka goalkeeper for Super Cup

Satyajit Bordolui is born in Assam but represents Karnataka. He had represented the Indian under-23 team in 2017.

In a bid to make a comeback in the forthcoming Super Cup Mohammedan Sporting is planning to rope in Satyajit Bordolui, the goalkeeper from Karnataka that won Santosh Trophy for the senior national football championship after 54 years at the King Fahd International Stadium in Saudi Arabia. Mohammedan Sporting will kick off against Gokulam FC on 5th April in the tournament that is likely to be played in Kerala this season.

Mohammedan had a poor show in the I-league this season managing only 26 points in 22 matches to finish in eighth position in the league table. The current coach of the team Mehrajuddin Wadoo took charge of the team with only four matches remaining and the team was languishing in the ninth position in the League table. Under Wadoo's observation, the team finished the League, advancing to one spot including two big victories against Sudeva and Sreenidhi Deccan, by 5-2 and 6-4 goals, respectively.

However, the team management felt goalkeeping was one of the areas where the team had faltered in some of the crucial matches, and in its aftermath, the club decided to rope in Satyajit for the Super Cup.

Wadoo however commenting on the team's preparation said, "I have 10 days before our first match against Gokulam FC. We will make the best of the preparation." Commenting on the team's poor show in the I-League, the former India international stated, "It was challenging to take charge of the team at that stage. I could observe the footballers only in the last four matches. I felt they lacked the confidence, needed. I had worked only on the footballers' psychological part to regain their confidence. I am hopeful that the reflection will be seen in the Super Cup."

However, Satyajit Bordolui is born in Assam but represents Karnataka. He had represented the Indian under-23 team in 2017, the year his father died of cancer. He also played a couple of tournaments wearing Gokulam FC shirts and he was representing Sports Club Bengaluru. He was instrumental in Karnataka's Santosh Trophy triumph after 54 years.
