Israfil Dewan struck a brace while the team’s captain on the day Adison Singh scored another for the winner against the disjointed Army Eleven.
After a defeat and a draw, Mohammedan Sporting returned to winning way with a 3-1 victory in their fourth match in the CFL Premier Division against Army Xi (Red) at home on Tuesday.
Israfil Dewan struck a brace while the team’s captain on the day Adison Singh scored another for the winner against the disjointed Army Eleven.
Pradip Kumar reduced the margin for the Army in the late second half. The scoreline during the break was 2-0 in Mohammedan Sporting’s favor.
Army Red which had a memorable performance against Mohammedan Sporting in the CFL Premier Division last season, looked disjointed, especially in the midfield functioning. That might be reason the failed to create chances as the forwards were not fed properly with quality passes.
The Black-and-White brigade on the other hand had enough space in the central midfield area and under the leadership of experienced Tanmoy Bose, Mohammedan Sporting forwards obtained a lot of quality passes.
Adison Singh and Israfil who according to the club’s football secretary and former India international Dipendu Biswas is going to establish his presence in the CFL this season, looked agile in the penetrative zone.
