Mohun Bagan drubs Machindra FC 3-1, to face Abahani Dhaka in the next tie

MBSG will play against Abahani Dhaka on 22nd August in the AFC Cup South Zone play-off.

Mohun Bagan Super Giants (MBSG) earned a convincing 3-1 victory against Nepal's Machindra FC in their AFC Cup preliminary round two games on Wednesday at Salt Lake Stadium. 

The deadlock was broken in the 38th minute by Anwar Ali's header from Hugo Boumous's free-kick. The team's Australian World Cupper Jason Cummings showed his class in his second appearance for the team on the day, executing a sublime finish through the inside step from an Anirudh Thapa in the 59th minute. 

Machindra FC reduced the margin in the 78th minute when Olawale's free-kick flew over Bagan's defense and beat goalkeeper Vishal Kaith. Anwar Ali again scored in the 85th minute to seal the opposition’s fate.

MBSG will play against Abahani Dhaka on 22nd August in the AFC Cup South Zone play-off. 

Machinda FC could have conceded more goals had not their goalkeeper Bishal Sreshtha stood between the Mariners’ tireless attacks and the goal.
