Mohun Bagan Super Giants (MBSG) maintained winning streak, defeating Punjab FC by a brace in their second group league match in the ongoing Durand Cup at Kishore Bharati Stadium on Monday. 

Hugo Boumous scored in the 48th minute when Liston Colaco’s cross from the left was spilled by the goalkeeper and Boumous jabbed in. Punjab FC had already lost the rhythm after their defender Melroy scored a suicidal goal off the Manveer Singh powerful minus from the right in the 23rd minute. 

Still, the water-soaked ground at the Kishore Bharati Stadium turned out a major obstruction before Bagan while trying to exhibit an organized game. The defence looked scattered as he midfielders were not up to the mark considering the match-fitness. 

However, before the team’s first derby against arch-rivals East Bengal on 12th August Mohun Bagan’s technical director Antonio Habas arrived in the city on Monday. The former ISL-winning coach of ATK Mohun Bagan is expected to bolster the team before the derby.
