Parthib Gogui reduced the margin for North East United
The Mariners emerged victorious 2-1 eventually in a closely fought encounter. They secured a lead early on in the first-half in the 3rd minute through a powerful strike from midfielder Loitongbam Taison Singh. Bagan held onto their lead for the following hour before doubling the same through Taison’s second strike in the 63rd minute.
The team maintained solid defensive organization for the rest of the game and North East United had to rely on an injury-time goal from their star striker Parthib Gogoi to salvage some pride out of the contest. Gogoi did not start the game and only came off the bench to put the ball past the Bagan goalkeeper Syed Zahid Hossain.
