Mohun Bagan manages to edge past spirited Peerless by a goal

Mohun Bagan advanced closer to the 'Super –-Six' stage of the ongoing CFL Premier Division. They managed to edge past Peerless by a goal in their 10th match on Sunday at home. The first-half goal was scored by Rohen Singh. The green-and-maroon brigade has garnered 23 points after their 10th match. The team still needs two more points to ensure their berth in the CFL Super-Six level. 

However, Peerless deserves the credit for offering a strong resistance against fancied Mohun Bagan. The team’s most of the contracted footballers, especially the footballers from Mizoram had already left as their contract ended in August. They even were not in a position to field their team on the day. 

Coach Hemanta Dora said, "We managed to accumulate footballers from different academies and districts who did not even have experience participating in the fifth division league before and we had six registered footballers. Still, I am thankful to the boys for their brave fight. I would not have been surprised if the score-line ended 1-1. We created two positive chances and wasted them a few minutes before the match ended.” 

Peerless finished their group league garnering 20 points in 12 matches while
