
The Mariners stay on top despite the draw, Bashundhara Kings emerge to the 2nd spot.
Mohun Bagan Super Giant and Bashundhara Kings split points with a 2-2 draw in the AFC Cup group stage match played at the Kalinga Stadium in Bhubaneswar on Tuesday.
The first half of the game that was filled with action ended 1-1. Liston Colaco could have had another goal against Basundhara as he found the back of the net in the 20minutes of the game but his goal was disallowed by the assistant referee for his offside position.
Mariners kept being on the offensive and broke the deadlock before the first half ended, courtesy to the Australian Duo, Dimitri Petratos who scored a stunning goal and Jason Cummings, who provided the assistance. However, the opponent scored the equaliser within 4 minutes as their Brazilian forward Dorielton scored with a splendid strike.
In the second half the Indian side desperately tried to take the lead back again. After numerous attacks on the opponents' goal, Asish Rai found the back of the net assisted by Petratos.
However, in the 70th minute of the game, Asish Rai brought down Robinho and as it was a clear foul, a penalty was awarded to the Bashundhara Kings. The Brazillian striker successfully took the penalty and levelled the things at the Kalinga Stadium. Even after few chances for both teams, neither were able to score any goals to bag the all the points and the game ended 2-2.
The draw kept Mohun Bagan on top of their AFC Cup Group, while Bashundhara Kings emerge to the 2nd spot with four points.
