The scoreline was 3-1 in MBSG's favour
Mohun Bagan Super Giants(MBSG) beat Chennaiyin FC, 3-1 in the Indian Super League hosted at the Jawaharlal Nehru Stadium in Chennai on Saturday.
The visitors completely dominated the first half of the game with two spectacular goals. Sahal showed off some exquisite footwork on the right flank and then crossed the ball to the near-post towards Petratos. Petratos met the cross with his head and found the net, opening the scoreboard for MBSG.
Chennaiyin made continuous advances towards the opponents goal but were unable to score due to the strong defense of the opponents.
MBSG was on a roll and in the last few minutes of the first half, Sahal Abdul Samad sent a cross from the left and Jason Cummings took the chance to hand the second score to the Mariners.
55 minutes into the game, Crivellaro pulled one back for the hosts as he went for a shot from the free kick gained due to Sahal bringing down Jiteshwor. The ball made a slight deflection and ended up in the back of the net.
However, Manvir gave an immediate response in the next minute as he found the back of the net assisted by Samad to restore Mohun Bagan’s two-goal lead which in turn sealed MBSG's victory.
