"Mohun Bagan has brought me here not to win the fair play trophy but the title. If both are achieved, it's better, but the aim is always to win the championship.”
Mohun Bagan SG coach Jose Molina is an optimistic figure with a proven record of overcoming challenges. He's prepared to tackle even more. Now, with Mohun Bagan SG, the Spanish coach is aiming for new achievements.
Recently, while talking to the Times of India, he opened up about the struggles of his life as well as the future plan for Mohun Bagan. He disclosed that a long-term contract isn’t something the 54-year-old Spaniard is eager for.
He stated, "For me, it's a piece of paper I need to sign. I'm here because Mohun Bagan wanted me and I wanted to come. But if any one of the parties is not happy, the best thing is to shake hands and leave," he said rather nonchalantly.
While talking about winning the La Liga and Cup “double” with Atletico Madrid in 1996. He stated, “It wasn’t my single best experience—every title I win becomes the best. From the ISL in 2016 to the Hong Kong league with Kitchee, each is a memorable achievement.”
While talking about Mohun Bagan’s disqualification from the ACL Two, the coach ruefully notified that he is not amused by the ACL decision.
“I am not happy with the AFC's decision. I would prefer my team to play in Asia. Now, you have to forget about the AFC and focus on ISL. We'll try to win it and play in the AFC next year to prove that an Indian team can be strong in Asia tournaments as well.”
He further added, “Mohun Bagan has got 22 yellow cards in just 6 games so far in this ISL.”
When asked if Bagan's discipline is a concern, the coach responded with, "Not at all. The yellow cards are the referee's decisions, and they can be right or wrong. But Mohun Bagan has brought me here not to win the fair play trophy but the title. If both are achieved, it's better, but the aim is always to win the championship.”
