Trevor James Morgan, the former East Bengal coach and Australia's former Under-20 coach has applied for the chief coach's post of India's men's senior national football team. But at the same time, he says about one difficulty that he does not have the AFC Pro-License coaching degree yet. He however stressed on the point that he will acquire the Pro-License coaching degree if he is selected for the post.

The 67 year-old English coach, one of the most successful managers with East Bengal in recent times, divulged while speaking over the phone, "I have a UEFA-A license coaching degree. But so far I know The All India Football Federation (AIFF) will need an AFC Pro-license coaching degree. So, now it might be difficult for me to get a call. But if I am selectd as the Indian senior team's chief coach then I will acquire the Pro-License coaching degree.”

Morgan, revealing his plans added, "I have plans also to acquire a Pro-license coaching degree by attending the course in Maldives next year. When I did UEFA-A, it was the top coaching degree that was accepted in the English Premier League.

Morgan when asked about Indian football’s latest state added, "I mainly watch ISL. I have not seen the national team playing in the recent international tournaments much. But, I feel Indian footballers should try to play abroad, test their mettle to become stronger ultimately which will help them to match the international standard."

Some of the current senior national team footballers like Gurpreet Singh Sandhu, Nikhil Poojary, and Rahul Bheke were under the guidance of Morgan in the early days of their careers.

However, former Punjab FC coach Staikos Vergetis also has reportedly applied for the head coach's role of the senior national team. Along with him, former coach of Bengaluru FC Simon Grayson’s name has come up who is reportedly in talks with the AIFF core committee representatives.
