MS Dhoni drops major hint at his IPL future with CSK

Dhoni had pledged to make a comeback in the IPL 2024, putting an end to the speculation about his future after guiding CSK to their fifth league championship.

Former Indian skipper MS Dhoni has provided a significant update on his knee injury and his comeback to the Indian Premier League (IPL) in 2024 with the Chennai Super Kings. Dhoni who guided CSK to title triumph in IPL 2023 grappled with a nagging knee injury that limited his batting contributions.

Following CSK's fifth IPL title win, Dhoni underwent knee surgery, and he has now disclosed that he is experiencing no complications with his knee and is progressing well toward complete recovery.

Dhoni made this revelation at an event in Bangalore on 26th October. He confirmed that medical professionals have assured him that he will feel significantly better by November. The 42-year old wicketkeeper-batsman also shared that his knee successfully withstood the surgery and that he is currently undergoing a rehabilitation process.

"Knee has survived the operation, going through the rehab patch, the doctor told me you would feel much better by November. But no problem in day-to-day routine," said Dhoni.

Dhoni further said that his goal was never to be exclusively recognized as an accomplished cricketer. Instead, he consistently stressed the importance of leaving a legacy as a decent human being.

"You know, right from the start, I was not into that people should remember me as a good cricketer. I always said, you know, I want to be remembered as a good human being. You know, and if you want to be a good human being, it's a process till you die," Dhoni added.

Dhoni had pledged to make a comeback in the IPL 2024, putting an end to the speculation about his future after guiding CSK to their fifth league championship.

“Circumstantially, it’s the best time to announce retirement. The easy thing for me is to say is thank you and retire. But the amount of love I have received from CSK fans, it would be a gift for them to (see me) play one more season,” Dhoni had said at the Narendra Modi Stadium after CSK beat Gujarat Titans in May.
