
Mumbai FC wins 2 -1 in Kalinga Super Cup after being a goal down in the first half.
Kalinga Super Cup toady saw a great match in Group C where Mumbai Citi FC faced Gakulam FC. The Mumbai in blue outfit got the early possession. El Khayati spearheaded the Mumbai attack. Midway through the first half Gokulam got a free kick against the run of play. A free kick by Bouba ricochets off the cross bar and Sanchez was there to head in an easy finish. In the 33rd minute Mumbai got corner and Valpuia scored the equalizer but the referee disallowed the goal. The first half ended with Gokulam having a 1-0 lead.
After the break Mumbai City made a couple of changes. The Mumbai attacks were not meaningful. Meanwhile, Gokulam goalkeeper Avilash made good saves which prevented Mumbai from taking the lead. In the 77th minute Chhikarra received a through from Khayati and slides the ball passed the goalkeeper to level the match. In the 82nd and 83rd minute Avilash made two brilliant saves. In the 95th minute Mumbai was awarded a penalty when a Gokulam defender fouled inside the box. Man of the match Khayati converted the penalty to give Mumbai a 2 – 1 win in their first match.
