Mumbai City FC grabs victory 2-1 against Kerala Blasters in a violence-marred match

Pereyra Diaz and Apuia hand defeat to the Kerela Blasters

Mumbai City FC remains undefeated in a vicious match against Kerala Blasters 2-1, in the Indian Super League hosted in Mumbai Football Arena on Sunday.

The regulatory time for the first half remained goalless, however, Mumbai City FC managed to break the deadlock at the injury minutes as Pereyra Diaz found the back of the net.

Both teams were desperate for the scoreline to proceed and attempted numerous times to strike the net, but failed. Three Kerala Blasters players were shown yellow card and they had to tread carefully as they proceeded into the second half.

In the 58th minute of the game, Danish Farooq scored the splendid equaliser as he made a surprise run into the box and headed it in from a close range.

The hosts took the lead again and showed off great transition play just a few minutes later, as Apuia found the back of the net capitalising the defensive lapses of the opponent, giving Mumbai City the lead.

In the dramatic last ten minutes of the game, the referee flashed a yellow card to Freddy as he made a late challenge from behind on Yoell Van Nieff. MCFC's Gurkirat got into a heated argument with Sandeep with other players also joining in but the referee booked both players.

Due to a fight that broke in the last minute, red cards were shown to both sides for Drincic and Van Nieff while Prabir Das saw a yellow card. The post-match brawl left the Indian fans disappointed, as they would have preferred some good quality football.
