Namdhari FC split points with Churchill Brothers in I-league match

The match was a goalless draw

Debutant Namdhari FC split points with the mighty Churchill brothers in an unpredictable goalless I-league match at Namdhari Stadium in Punjab on Tuesday.

The hosts had a very disciplined backline. Despite being the more accomplished team, the former champions were unable to go past the tight defense of the Namdhari in the first half.

Midway through the first half Namdhari gained momentum and started imposing themselves on the game. They created many chances, mainly through set pieces. Harmanpreet Singh and Manvir Singh came the closest to breaking the deadlock. In the injury time of the first half Rama Gaonkar headed a cross but was unable to goal.

In the second half of the game, the Churchill brothers dominated the game by taking possession of the ball and going for the opponents goal. However their efforts were thwarted in the final third. Rama Gaonkar again took the chance to find the net in the 62nd minute however unfortunately it was an offside.

Namdhari too almost scored in the 69th minute, with Olmes Fernando and Amy Bhatkal combining to assist Harmanpreet Singh, who was unable to score as he lacked the finishing.
