This is the first time in the history of Indian karate BSF has come up with financial assistance and will be displaying their weapons during the competition.
All India Dhammika Kai Shito Karate Federation in association with Border Security Force (BSF) is going to organize the national karate championship at Khalsa Model Senior Secondary School in Dunlop, Kolkata on the 16th and 17th of March.
This is the first time in the history of Indian karate BSF has come up with financial assistance and will be displaying their weapons during the competition. It will be the first time the participants will be given medals where the Ashoka Pillar will be inscribed.
The president of the tournament committee, Anjan Pal commented, “It will be a great competition. For the first time, BSF has come forward to encourage and promote the event. We are expecting nearly 1000 participants in the competition while almost 700 players have confirmed their participation.”
Pal also revealed, “Our club Dadabhai Sangha already runs a karate training camp. This national championship will surely give a big boost to expand the camp in the future. Karate is an international game."
He added, "It helps the kids to develop their physical and mental strength. More importantly, there are several qualified and experienced coaches like Bidhan Mallick in Bengal. We should encourage them to produce more quality karate players."
Bidhan Mallick is a 5th Dan Black Bele and he also works as the coach of BSF. He is the tournament director of this competition. Mallick said, “We are happy to get the huge co-operation from Anjan Pal. He is doing his best to make the competition successful.”
He added, "We are also happy that Hanshi Rajnesh Choudhury, the general secretary of the Karate Association of India (KAI) as well as chief technical director of the Dhammika Kai Karate Federation will be present in the competition."
