Neeraj Chopra registers silver at Eugene Diamond League

Ace Indian javelin throw athlete Neeraj Chopra clinched the silver medal at the Diamond League Final in Eugene on Saturday as the 25-year-old from Kandhra came up with his best throw at the event with an 83.80 m attempt. He came in second behind Czech Jakub Vadlejch, who produced a nest on the day that came in at 84.24m to win the gold at the meet.

Chopra registered a foul on his first attempt, before fighting back strongly to land his best throw on the night on his second effort. Chopra’s third attempt sailed 81.37 m long before the Haryana-based javelin throw athlete erred on the fourth attempt once again.

However, he produced a throw of 80.74 m in his fourth attempt, while his final attempt on the night read 80.90m.

The Indian came in ahead of Finn Oliverr Helander, who finished third with a day’s best throw of 83.74m.
