Olympic champion Neeraj Chopra started the season with a bang winning the Doha Diamond League on Friday. His throw was 88.67 m in the 10-man men’s javelin event. The tournament took place at the Qatar Sports Club on Friday. Niraj, also, won the Diamond Trophy, at Zurich, last year as the first Indian.
Neeraj’s first throw was the best. He could not cross the 90-meter mark as the conditions were not favorable. He, even, could not perform better than his career best of 89.94m.
Tokyo Olympics silver medalist Jakub Vadlejch finished second with a throw of 88.63 m while World Champion Anderson Peter finished third with a best throw of 85.88m.
Before the start of the 2023 season, Neeraj Chopra set a target to break his career best and also to break the 90m mark which he hasn’t achieved yet.
Neeraj said after the gold medal, "I am happy to see that the fans have kept faith on me. This will inspire me to improve mokre."
