Northeast United swiped the victory against Chennaiyin FC in the match hosted in Indira Gandhi Athletic Stadium, Guwahati on Friday.

 The Highlanders were keen to get a better result this time and take revenge from the Marina Machans.

In the first half Parthib Gogoi delivered a splendid world-class goal which gave the hosts the deserving lead. Northeast and Chennai, both the teams created a couple opportunities but were unable to make their names on the scoreboard. Rafael Crivellaro was absolutely on fire in the first half and created many opportunities for his team to progress.

Nester made an awesome pass towards Phalguni which he took into the nets. NorthEast United made it a double, increasing their lead. 

In the second half, Chennaiyin FC looked for some opening to counterattack and get back in the game but were unable to do so due to their opponents strong defense.

The highlanders ended the match with a 3-0 lead as Asheer Akhtar found the back of the net with a long shot from outside the box at the last moment of the game.
