Neymar tears ACL, meniscus to miss trip to India for match against Mumbai City FC

The ex-Barcelona forward will also miss Al-Hilal's crunch clash against Cristiano Ronaldo's Al-Nassr in December.

Brazilian football star Neymar is going to miss his first-ever India trip to take part in the Asian Champions league (ACL) match against Mumbai City FC on 6th November, scheduled to be held at DY Patil Stadium.

The Brazilian superstar picked up an injury during a FIFA World Cup Qualifier on Wednesday. Neymar, who has a massive fan base in India, was set to draw massive crowds to the DY Patil stadium during Al Hilal’s match against Mumbai City FC in the AFC Champions League – but in all probability that will not happen.

It has now been confirmed that Neymar could be out for the rest of the season after sustaining an ACL injury and meniscus tear. Al-Hilal posted a statement on social media, which read: "Medical examinations revealed that Al-Hilal player Neymar Jr. suffered a tear in the excruciate ligament and cartilage. He will undergo surgery later, and a treatment program will be determined for the duration after the operation. Come back stronger."

It is unclear how long Neymar will be out for, but the ex-Barcelona forward will also miss Al-Hilal's crunch clash against Cristiano Ronaldo's Al-Nassr in December. Al-Hilal are also set to face Al-Ahli, who have Roberto Firmino and Riyad Mahrez among others in their armory, later this month.
