Nikhat, Lovlina win gold at World Boxing Championships, 'Boxing Queen' for the second time

Nikhat became the second woman boxer of the country to win the title twice in a row on the world stage. Lovlina Borgohain also wins gold.

After 2 golds on Saturday, another two gold came home to India again in the world championship. Indian boxer Nikhat Zarin won the gold. He became the champion for the second time after defeating Vietnam's N Thi Tam. He is considered a worthy successor of Mary Kom. Proved himself by winning the World Boxing Championship last time. The 'boxing queen' has achieved again at the world meets.

Lovlina, a two-time Worlds bronze medalist,  beat Australia's, Caitlin Anne Parker. Lovlina started cautiously, and Parker landed the first blow with two quick straight jabs. A powerful hook to the side of the head and Parker had taken control of the bout in the first minute.

Nikhat put on a show of dominance against his Vietnamese counterpart in the 48-50kg final at the Indira Gandhi Sports Complex in New Delhi on Sunday. He put the opponent under pressure with continuous punches. All five judges declared Nikhat the winner of the first bout. In the second round, however, the Vietnamese star tried to turn around. But the result did not match. Nikhat had the last laugh in the final round of a bone-to-neck fight.

After Mary Kom, Nikhat became the second woman boxer in the country to win the title twice in a row on the world stage. She became the second Indian woman boxer to win multiple medals at the World Championships. After winning gold at the Commonwealth Games last year, he has won two consecutive world championships.
