Nikhat Zareen assures India of a medal at the Asian Games.
Junior World and Youth Championship winner Nikhat Zareen (50kg) secured the coveted quota at next year’s Paris Olympics and secured herself of a medal opportunity at Hangzhou Asian Games by gaining victory in her quarterfinal match. Nikhat faced Hanan Nassar of Jordan in the women’s 50kg bout on Friday. She asserted her dominance quickly in the match with back to back sharp jabs and controlled series of precise combination punches. Due to her superb performance, in less than three minutes the referee had to issue three standing counts to the Jordanian boxer before ultimately stopping the contest.Brilliantly skilled Nikhat, hails from Telangana’s Nizamabad and is a two-time World Champion and a CWG 2022 gold medalist. She had swiped a bronze at the Asian Championships and a gold at the World Junior and Youth Championships.
