Nisha Dahiya's coach fumes over wrestler's injury; alleges it was ‘intentional’

Dahiya suffered a terrible hand injury against the North Korean and had to be taken to a medical facility inside the Games Village for a scan.

The Indian national team coach Virender Dahiya alleged that the injury to Nisha was intentional by the Korean team and was aimed at ending her campaign. Nisha Dahiya fell in tears after dislocating her finger and losing her women's 68kg quarterfinal match 8-10 against North Korea's Sol Gum Pak at the Paris Olympics on 5 August.

Dahiya suffered a terrible hand injury against the North Korean and had to be taken to a medical facility inside the Games Village for a scan.

"It was 100 percent intentional, they hurt her intentionally. We had seen, that there was an instruction from the Korean corner. They attacked the joint. They have taken away the medal from her," India's national coach Virender Dahiya told PTI.

"The way Nisha had started, the medal was in her neck and it was taken away. The attacks were clear, the counter-attack worked and the defense was compact. She had beaten the same wrestler at the Asian Qualifier, there was no way Nisha was losing this."
