No participation of Indian team in Asia cup 2023, Pakistan's demand for compensation and punishment

BCCI recently denied sending Indian players to Pakistan for Asia Cup 2023 over security threats.

The Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) has expressed concerns regarding India’s participation in the upcoming 2025 Champions Trophy. As of now, the PCB has not signed the hosting agreement for the tournament and is seeking compensation if India decides to withdraw from the event.

PCB expresses concerns and demands clarity on consequences if India withdraws from the tournament, as preparations for hosting the event continue.

The issue stems from the 2023 Asia Cup, where India did not travel to Pakistan due to the adoption of a hybrid model. After negotiations, a resolution was reached, bringing relief to the cricket community.

Pakistan is eagerly preparing to host the 2025 Champions Trophy, marking an eight-year gap since their last hosting opportunity. However, the PCB has raised its concerns with the International Cricket Council (ICC). In response, the ICC Chairman and CEO visited Pakistan to address the matters raised in the PCB’s letter.The PCB’s specific concern revolves around the possibility of India pulling out from the tournament and has sought clarification on the consequences and potential compensation. The Champions Trophy is scheduled to take place in February and would be Pakistan’s first ICC tournament hosting in 29 years.The last time Pakistan co-hosted a major ICC event was the 1996 World Cup. However, they lost the hosting rights for the 2011 World Cup following a tragic terror attack on the Sri Lankan cricket team in Lahore.

India will play their games only in Sri Lanka.
