Odisha FC defeated East Bengal in the crucial encounter

An Executive Committee meeting of the East Bengal Club was held today at the cub tent. In a press release, after the meeting, Debabrata Sarkar on behalf of the club said that two decisions have been taken today. Firstly, the club will request the investor, through a letter today, to form a team keeping in mind the past glory and legacy of the club, and keeping a balance with the Mohun Bagan team instead of giving importance to the budget.

Secondly, the executive body extended their thanks to the organizers of the Salman Show. 

East Bengal women's team today faced Sports Odisha at the Shahibaug Police Stadium, Ahmedabad in the sixth Hero IWL Group A match. It was a high stake encounter with both teams needing a win to solidify their position in the group and finish in the top four. 

The match was evenly poised with both teams having equal exchanges in the first half which ended goalless. Odisha found the lead in the 60th minute through Rekha. Three minutes later Mousumi Murmu, who was adjudged player of the match today, scored the equalizer for East Bengal. This was Mousumi's third Hero IWL goal. 

Eventually, Ritu Devi scored the winner for Odisha in the 94th minute to register a 2 – 1 win for Sports Odisha. After today's match East Bengal is placed in the fifth position in Group A, behind Hops FC with whom East Bengal will face the last match of the group stage. The match will be a 'must-win match' for East Bengal to finish in the top four. If the match ends in a draw, then East Bengal will have to wait for Gokulam Kerala's win against Mumbai Knights.
