A 26-year-old man dies in Naples after he was fired during the night celebration following Naples’s winning of the Serie A title for the third time, and the first time in 33 years after the Maradona era.
According to Corriere della Sear daily, three other people were injured in the same incident, police are investigating whether the shots were fired as a part of the celebration or any criminal activity. La Stampa newspaper stated that the man who died of the gunshot, after being taken to the hospital, is said to be associated with the local mafia clan.
More than 200 people have been admitted to the hospital with injuries from the knife or burned by firecrackers. Some have even asthma attacks after inhaling smoke from the flares. An old lady is reported to be run over by a car and the driver fled. Police have identified the driver.
After the final whistle, which confirmed Naples’s Serie A title, the streets of Naples erupted. The Diego Maradona stadium was filled with flares and smoke bombs. Many showed their tributes to Maradona through tattoos on their body.
