Dutta has now started taking initiative to bring two for former Argentine soccer legends in Kolkata.
He is Kolkata's one of the most prominent football promoters under whose initiative the city's football-passionate people witnessed a couple of football legends like Pele, Diego Maradona, Cafu, Emiliano Martinez, and Ronaldinho. He is Satadru Dutta.
The AIFF president Kalyan Chaubey however does not believe bringing football legends individually to the city and staying for a couple of days do not contribute to the development of the game in India.
Chaubey commented while speaking to media at George Telegraph club tent on Friday, “I am not disrespecting the promoters' effort whose initiative brought the football legends in different times. But talking about the country's football development the one-off visits have not contributed to the development of the game. The fans become enthusiastic after watching the greats. Media gives publicity. Social media is flooded with pictures and posts.”
However, when asked about the AIFF president's comments, Dutta explained, “I am not also disrespecting the AIFF president’s views. But I feel developing Indian football cannot be made by any individual. Only the Federation or respective state bodies can do it. So what I am doing? I am trying to create a balance in Kolkata's sports ecosystem where the sports fanatic people, especially the young generation are cricket-oriented."
Dutta citing the example of his last initiative which witnessed Ronaldinho in the city, added, “I took Ronaldinho to St. Xavier's College campus and it saw incredible enthusiasm among the students. It was the first time a football legend stepped onto the college campus. The ecstatic people had also a taste of viewing a Ballon d'Or from a close distance. Similarly, I watched the people's passion during the visits of Pele, Maradona, Martinez and Ronaldinho.”
Significantly, Dutta revealed information stating, "Before Brazilian legend Cafu’s visit proposed the AIFF asking them to organize any clinic or workshop if they wish. Yes, I do business by organizing the visits of the legends. But at the same time, I also want to engage them in any kind of developmental activities. But due to the stars' busy schedule, it cannot be organized all the time. Still, Martinez had interaction with the young footballers for some time. Maradona also played with the kids at Aditya School.”
Dutta has now started taking initiatives to bring two former Argentine soccer legends in Kolkata. Looking forward to the next two-year time, Dutta has planned to bring a tennis legend and a legendary athlete.
