Oscar upset with a 'similar' defensive mistake, poor referring; Molina says about the team spirit

Jamie Maclaren struck the winner in the second minute, capitalizing on an Ashis Rai accurate forward through from right.

Oscar Bruzon was visibly upset in his post-match chat with Jio TV. He could not hide his frustration about the ‘similar’ defensive error that happened in the very second minute of the match. Simultaneously, East Bengal’s Spanish coach expressed disappointment over the referring.

Mohun Bagan Super Giants (MBSG) defeated arch-rivals East Bengal in the Kolkata derby of the ongoing ISL in Guwahati on Saturday. The League topper with 35 points from 15 matches is now ahead of second-placed Bengaluru FC by eight points.

Jamie Maclaren struck the winner in the second minute, capitalizing on an Ashis Rai accurate forward through from right.

But it was Hijaji Maher once again whose sluggish movement off the ball allowed Maclaren to evade him and jab home. Majher’s similar mistake cost East Bengal an important goal in their previous match.

East Bengal had to play with 10 men for 30 minutes after Souvik Chakrabarty was sent off in the 64th minute on a second yellow card.

But at the same time, the Red-and-Gold brigade was clearly deprived of a spot-kick when Appuia handed a PV Vishnu jab on his left hand within the box. The referee surprisingly overlooked it.

Oscar however standing beside his footballers claimed, “I am proud of my boys for their bravery and effort to fight back. We created a few set pieces but could not capitalize.”

On the other hand, MBSG coach Jose Molina did not look elated. Rather he spoke about the team spirit stating, “You cannot win a trophy with 11 footballers. You need the energy from all 24 footballers on the team and my job is to keep the spirit on. The footballers respect each other.”

"Even those who are not playing regularly transpire the energy to the first eleven to keep the spirit. I am looking forward to the upcoming matches."
