The green-and-maroon brigade leveled the scoreline within three minutes after the break.
Aditya Patra, the custodian was the savior of East Bengal in the derby clash against Mohun Bagan with a couple of brilliant saves in the first derby of the Reliance Under-21 Youth Football League. On Friday, Patra again coming off injury became the man to have salvaged some pride for depleted East Bengal helping the team to make 1-1- against Mohun Bagan in the Youth League match at Naihati Stadium.
Patra made a couple of outstanding saves and became the bastion of East Bengal's defense despite the fact that the red-and-gold brigade took lead in the first half through Deep Saha who scored from a penalty. The green-and-maroon brigade leveled the scoreline within three minutes after the break. After Sumit Rathi's shot rebounded off Patra's gloves Fardin put it into the nets.
East Bengal coach Vinu George however regretted that he did not have some of the key footballers as they have gone to Kerala to play in Super Cup. He also added saying, "Leading by a goal our boys seemed quite complacent which resulted in their sloth movement after the break."
But Patra was happy to have maintained consistency. He said, "I am happy that I have been able to maintain consistency and my aim is to carry on with the same performance in our next matches."
