Paul Scholes fractures his knee in the Unicef-organized exhibition match

However, after colliding with his old united teammate Nani only four minutes later, he had to leave the pitch with a knee problem.

It was an exhibition match organized by Unicef and following Usain Bolt's opening goal, the 48-year-old was inserted as a replacement midway through the match. He represented World XI.

During Soccer Aid, Scholes had to leave due to a knee injury. In the 53rd minute, he turned the game on its head with a magnificent shot into the bottom-right corner from beyond the box, putting England with a 2-1 lead.

However, after colliding with his old united teammate Nani only four minutes later, he had to leave the pitch with a knee problem. In spite of his injuries, Scholes expressed his happiness at going back to Old Trafford on Instagram after the game. Scholes wrote on his Instagram, "Knee's f*** but couldn't give two s**... nothing will ever give me a better feeling than playing in front of a full house at OT and scoring a goal.'

'Great couple of days with some very funny people,' the daughter of Scholes, Alicia, posted a video of her father leaving the house on crutches on Instagram. Robbie Keane, a former Tottenham and Liverpool striker, and Love Island star Kem Cetinay each scored three goals in the dying minutes to help the World XI win the game 4-2 in the end.

In addition to Gary Neville, other Man Utd legends Patrice Evra and Nani were on the World XI team that won the match. Before the game, Scholes was incensed at the blue and white flags that had been placed in the Old Trafford bleachers. They were too close, in his opinion, to Manchester City's colours, which were United's opponents and the team that had just won the previous night's Triple Crown. But the flags were only there to symbolize the hues of Unicef, the organization that organized Football Aid.
