Pawan Malik says he has learned to handle pressure from Sreejesh

The 21-year-old goalkeeper had an impressive performance in India’s unbeaten outing in the Pro-League played at Rourkela.

Young goalkeeper Pawan Malik, who was included in the Indian Senior team, says that he learned to handle pressure from PR Sreejesh.

Young goalkeeper Pawan Malik was included in the Senior India Team during the FIH Pro-League in March. He said playing against the world’s top team is very difficult. But under PR Sreejesh he has learnt to handle the pressure.

The 21-year-old goalkeeper had an impressive performance in India’s unbeaten outing in the Pro-League played at Rourkela. With Krishan Pathak off for a personal leave, Malik was selected for the senior team. He played against World Champion Germany and mighty Australia.

Malik said, “It was not an easy task to play against World’s top teams Germany and Australia. The speed and attack which they bring are different from what I faced in my junior days.” He added that the team always backed him and spending a lot of time with the experienced players was a wonderful experience.

Young Malik is making rapid progress with his impressive performance from his junior days. During the Pro-League his performance was parallel with the German goalkeeper Jean-Paul Dannenberg. Incidentally both Malik and Jean are of the same age.
