PR Solutions is country's one of the country's leading organisations that has been making live productions of several major sports events for almost the last 10 years and has experience in making live productions of the country's second major football competition I-league.
The company’s director Partha Acharya when asked about a crucial and recent allegation against the All India Football Federation (AIFF) about the usage of ‘dummy cameras’ in the I-league last season, opined that ‘usage of dummy cameras’ cannot be possible on the field.
Significantly, the former nodal legal officer of the AIFF, Nilanjan Bhattacharjee, in a letter to the Asian Football Confederation (AFC) as well as Prime Minister Narendra Modi, the Union Sports Minister Anurag Thakur sought their intervention informing about various allegations against the Kalyan Chaubey-led AIFF top brass including the usage of 'dummy cameras'.
Bhattacharjee also divulged that some of the disputed issues from his email to the AIFF president on 4th February 2024, including the allegation of usage of ‘dummy cameras’ in I-League matches were taken up by the Supreme Court-appointed Amicus, senior advocate Gopal Shankarnarayan. When asked whether he has any proof on the matter Bhattacharjee stated that time, “I have submitted the evidence along with my letter to the AFC.”
However, the PR Solutions director explained, "The position of the cameras is very important on the field. The first and second camera covers the match from the top. The third camera is installed on the ground. The fourth and fifth camera covers off-side. The sixth, seventh, are used in the high-behind, and low-behind and eighth camera shows opposite-side movements, coach's reactions. In this situation, there is no scope of using a dummy camera on the field."
Acharya added, “I also have heard of the allegation. I do not know whether this allegation has been filed with the court. It might only happen if any of the cameras do not work on the field. That is an accident and it can happen.”
He continued, “Additionally, my logic even if I put a dummy camera on the field, that is to be carried the cameraman who is deputed to operate that camera will have to be paid. I have been associated with live production for a decade. I doubt whether any company will do that wasting money.”
Acharya also stated, “All the I-league matches are preserved in the AIFF's YouTube channel. Anyone can see the camera positions in matches and make analysis whether any dummy camera was used.”
According to Acharya, the AIFF executives who monitor the matches on the field are very serious and sincere about the installation of the cameras and their functioning.
