Prema Rawat And G Kamalini; The Uncapped Heros in WPL Auction

MI also signed South African all-rounder Nadine de Klerk for her base price of ₹30 lakh. De Klerk, a former standout for Royal Challengers Bangalore in WPL 2024, adds international experience to Harmanpreet Kaur’s squad.

The Women Premier League is witnessing two uncapped heroes rise from the ground.

Hailing from the small village of Sumti in Uttarakhand, 23-year-old all-rounder Prema Rawat made waves at the 2025 Women’s Premier League auction. The defending champions, Royal Challengers Bengaluru (RCB), signed her for an impressive INR 1.2 crore after a fierce bidding war with the Delhi Capitals.

To head towards an equivalent competition, Mumbai Indians signed a Tamil Nadu all-rounder, G. Kamalini. The 16-year-old prodigy was bought with a staggering Rs. 1.6 crore in the WPL 2025 in a mini auction. The bidding started with a base price of 10 lakh, but the bidding war between Delhi Capitals (DCW) and Mumbai (MIW) concluded with MI clinching the all-rounder.

Rawat, known for her all-round abilities with the bat and ball, impressed in the 2024 Uttarakhand Premier League. Her consistent performances earned her a well-deserved spot in the Women's Premier League (WPL). A skilled leg-spinner and dependable lower-order batter, she provides balance and serves as a potential backup for RCB spinner Asha Sobhana.

From humble beginnings in Bageshwar to the grand stage of the WPL, Rawat’s rise is a testament to her hard work and talent. As she joins RCB, fans are eager to see this uncapped star shine.

Whereas Kamalini, a 16-year-old batting sensation from Tamil Nadu, is making waves in Indian cricket. She was the second-highest scorer in the U-19 Women’s T20 Trophy, amassing 311 runs in eight matches and leading Tamil Nadu to victory in October. Known for her explosive left-handed batting, she hit 10 sixes during the tournament, showcasing remarkable power-hitting skills.

Her match-winning 79 for India 'B' in the U-19 tri-series final against South Africa earned her a spot in India’s squad for the inaugural U-19 Asia Cup 2024 in Malaysia. Kamalini has already impressed in the tournament, including a crucial 29-ball 44 in a successful run chase against Pakistan at the Bayuemas Cricket Oval.

Kamalini wasn’t the only notable pick for the Mumbai Indians at the WPL 2025 auction. The franchise also signed South African all-rounder Nadine de Klerk for her base price of ₹30 lakh. De Klerk, a former standout for Royal Challengers Bangalore in WPL 2024, adds international experience to Harmanpreet Kaur’s squad.

West Indies’ power hitter Deandra Dottin received a massive ₹1.7 crore bid after a fierce contest between Gujarat Giants and UP Warriorz. Mumbai batter Simran Shaikh also secured a substantial pay cheque during the auction.
