'Prithvi needs to work hard and come back' says Delhi Capitals Co-owner

Prithvi Shaw began his IPL journey as a promising star, with Delhi Capitals (DC) acquiring him in 2018 and retaining him in 2022 for a substantial INR 7.5 crore.

The Delhi Capitals co-owner, Parth Jindal, expressed his concern about Prithvi Shaw after he remained unsold in the IPL Mega Auction.

While talking to India Today, he reacted to the IPL snub of Shaw, he stated, “Prithvi is a great kid but misunderstood in many ways. When all your life you grow up hearing you’re special, the most talented, and compared to Lara or Sachin, it creates pressure. This snub might be the jolt he needs.”

He further shed light on Prithvi's need to improve his physique, urging him to attain a road of fitness and discipline.

“He needs to work hard and get back to loving the game again. I hope he comes back and becomes the Prithvi Shaw we once knew,” he added.

Jindal is rooting for Prithvi to view this setback as a wake-up call, urging him to overcome his indifference and indiscipline. He sees this IPL snub as an opportunity for Prithvi to rebuild his career and prove his critics wrong by demonstrating resilience and strength.

Prithvi Shaw began his IPL journey as a promising star, with Delhi Capitals (DC) acquiring him in 2018 and retaining him in 2022 for a substantial INR 7.5 crore. However, his inconsistent performances led to his exclusion from DC’s playing XI and ultimately to his release ahead of the 2025 IPL mega auction.
