Pro-license holder Sanjoy Sen feels the course should also be for the football administrators

Sen praised the IFA also for televising CFL Premier Division through InSports TV.

It was quite challenging for former I–League winning Mohun Bagan coach Sanjoy Sen to acquire the AFC Pro-license coaching degree at the age of 63. He acquired an A-license degree last in 2009.

He admitted, "After a gap of 14 years it was difficult to focus on the study and its application. My mental strength helped me to concentrate and finally earn the precious coaching degree that continued for one year and two months. After completing the course now I realize that anyone willing to acquire a Pro-license coaching degree should complete it by the age of 45.”

Pro-license consisted of five modules. The final module was the exposure trip to Japan. Under the leadership of Fifa instructor Kim Poulsen, a former Danish national coach of Tanzania, 16 coaches including Sen and others like Mehrajuddin Wadoo, and Renedy Singh from India visited top academies in Japan as well as watched a few matches of premier J-League teams. The 16 coaches were grouped into four each and they were asked to analyze the different segments of a team's performance.

When asked how much application while coaching could be possible, Sen divulged, “We have to think over that. Actually, we have not been able to start the proper development programs. Our key object to touring Japan was because they have played seven World Cup finals already and they have now begun the project to perform in 2050 World Cup finals. As a coach, I also should have a responsibility to explore and scout local talents.”

Sen commenting on the infrastructural part stated, “I personally feel the key part in the infrastructural development I noticed in Japan was the maintenance. If maintenance lacks quality then infrastructure cannot be developed to the international standard. Japan also gets the grant from Fifa as the countries like India, and Bangladesh receive. Constructing an academy or a stadium or a center of excellence with the help of a Fifa grant does not cater to the developmental part. Your maintenance should be unique which we observed in Japan."

Sen simultaneously added, "I personally feel there should be similar administrative coaching courses for the football administrators, the club, the associations, and the national association. It will help the administrators to learn and adopt the ‘maintenance’ part and develop here also.”

The veteran coach who said official goodbye to ATK Mohun Bagan (Now it is Mohun Bagan Super Giants) before the Japan trip had a lot of appreciation for the AIFF’s decision of staging the state football leagues without foreign footballers’ absence.

He explained, “This decision has created an opportunity for the promising local footballers to come up. It is truly unfortunate that except Rahim Ali the under-23 Asian Games-bound Indian probably does not have a single Bengali footballer.”

At the same time, Sen praised the IFA also for televising CFL Premier Division through InSports TV. He concluded, "It has been a great effort. Along with the city's big three teams, matches of all other teams have entered the football-loving people's drawing rooms. I am also highly impressed by the production quality."
