The protesting wrestlers alleged against Babita Phogat that she has ditched the protestants by forcing them to sit for the “dharna” at the Jantar Mantar in her own interest. The wrestlers are in protest at the Jantar Mantar against the president of the Wrestling Federation of India (WFI) Brij Bhusan Sharan Singh.

One of the protesting wrestlers said to IANS on conditions of anonymity “She first forced us to sit in the “dharna” and assured us that   there will be no political interference.” The protestants added that while they restrained the political leaders from meeting them. Babita, in her own interest, politicized the whole matter and backstabbed them.

Earlier, two times World Champion Vinesh Phogat also blamed her cousin and BJP leader saying that Babita was more worried about her political career rather than the wrestler’s cause and that is why she tried to mediate with them on the issue. 

The oversight committee comprises legendary boxer MC Mary Kom and Yogeswar Dutt, Trupti Murgunde, Radhika, and Rajesh Rajagopalan. Babita was later included to investigate the wrestler’s allegation.

The committee submitted its report on 5th April. As per the media report, Brij Bhusan got a clean chit from the panel. However, the latest protest by the wrestlers may force the Government to rethink and announce the decision soon to resolve the matter.
