Pakistan Super League franchise Multan Sultans owner Ai Tareen is frustrated and angry with the PCB. Before the forthcoming 10th PSL, he claimed that the board has not even initiated any discussions over the addition of two more teams from the next edition onwards without giving any prior intimation to the franchise owners. 

The concern expressed by the PSL franchise owner is over the model followed by the league and how lack of clarity was going to put the league’s future at risk.

Speaking to Cricwick, Ali Tareen claimed that the entire PSL was working on a rental model, explaining that the team owners currently did not own the team but were merely renting it from the PCB.

“Right now, all 6 teams are simply renting the teams every single year from the PCB. I we don’t pay rent for a year, then the team is gone and we have no rights. So, it is just a rental model,” Tareen said.

The Multan Sultans owner went on to cite the case of IPL, where he claimed that teams were able to bring in foreign investment. He said that it would even be impossible for the PSL team owners to sell the team to any foreign entity as they were merely renting teams from the PCB.

Talking about the addition of two more PSL teams, Tareen pointed out that no thought was given by the PCB yet as to what the revenue-sharing model would be once two new sides were brought in.
