Rahul Dravid will also have to re-apply, Langer is in the race for the post

The upcoming season for the new coach starts with an away white ball series against Sri Lanka including Bangladesh, New Zealand test series, and then the most awaited Border-Gavaskar trophy.

Rahul Dravid whose contract with the Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) is going to expire after the T-20 World Cup this year, will have to apply again if he wants to continue as the Team India chief coach.

Interestingly, former Australian international and coach Justin Langer’s name has reportedly come in the frontline among the probable chief coaches’ list. Even in an interview with Times of India, Langer expressed curiosity and hope that he would be delighted to work as chief coach of Team India.

BCCI has already started inviting applications for Team India's chief coach's post. The last date for applying is 27th May. According to the requirement, the applicants must have experience of playing in 30 tests or 50 One Day Internationals (ODIs) or a full-time test nation's head coach for the last two years and should be below 60 years.

BCCI president Jay Shah added “If our current national team head coach Rahul Dravid wants to continue with his role, according to the procedure he has to re-apply.”

He continued, "The upcoming season for the new coach starts with an away white ball series against Sri Lanka including Bangladesh, New Zealand test series, and then the most awaited Border-Gavaskar trophy against Aussies before the Champions trophy in Pakistan and so on ".
