Rajdeep reached the final of a national ranking zonal competition for the first time.
Rajdeep Sen became runner-up in the national zonal ranking table tennis tournament held in Vadodara, his first runner-up in a national ranking competition. He lost to Sahil Rawat in the under-15 category and revealed, “This was my first final in a national ranking tournament. I failed to deliver out of excitement. I became psychologically blank.”
Under the tutelage of Shouvik Kar, Rajdeep has improved and lost in the semifinal in his previous national zonal ranking competition.
However, the student of the ninth standard feels he needs to work on strengthening the psychological part on the board. Rajdeep said, “My coach Shouvik sir however advised me to work out on all the aspects, especially in the execution of strokes as well as the mental part. I do meditation and listen to pop group, Central Cee songs. It motivates me a lot before playing."
The paddler who lost in the semifinal in the state championship to Rupam Sardar also goes to Sports Authority of India (SAI) to practice under the Chinese coach. Despite the difference in coaching style between the Chinese coach and Shouvik Kar, Rajdeep asserted, “It does not affect my game.”
