Ranjit Bajaj wants to lodge an FIR on the match-fixing issue

The AIFF however has launched an investigation across various cities of the country to get to the root of this menace with the help of government agencies.

Ranjit Bajaj wants to inform Delhi police about the match-fixing by lodging an FIR. He is the owner of Delhi FC, the only team from the Delhi Premier League, participating in the ongoing I-League.

Video clippings of the ‘fixed match’ in the Delhi Premier League between Ahbab FC and Rangers SC already stormed Indian football.

Bajaj speaking over the phone from Chandigarh on Tuesday stated, “I asked my team not to participate in the DPL in the last month as I was receiving telephonic messages asking me to instruct the team to lose or to draw in some matches. Even my footballers were sending me telephonic messages stating that they were being asked to lose some matches, to draw in some matches.”

He added, “The interesting point was Football Delhi did not send me even a show-cause letter despite my decision to withdraw from the League in its middle. It made me suspicious about everybody’s functioning in the League.”

Bajaj divulged he would be waiting till Friday and if nobody lodges an FIR to Delhi Police he will lodge it. "Unless some of the involved people are taken into custody the system will not change," stated Bajaj.

Bajaj however raised another point revealing how one person was allowed to buy a major stake in multiple teams that are simultaneously participating in the Delhi Premier League. He sounded skeptic while explaining, “There are some people now, involved in Delhi Premier League who have major stakes of more than one team.”

He added, "Somebody has bought two teams. Someone has major shares of even three participating teams. How can be they fair while playing the matches? I am surprised to have noticed that how they were allowed to take part in the League."

It is also learned that one of these multiple team owners who is from West Bengal is under doubts on the issue.

The All India Football Federation (AIFF) however has launched an investigation across various cities of the country to get to the root of this menace with the help of government agencies.

Football Delhi President Anuj Gupta stated, “We have immediately suspended Ahbab FC and also decided to complain to the Delhi Police as well as the Anti-Corruption Bureau, asking them to start immediate investigation. The club and its footballers, especially the footballer (Md. Sahin) who scored the suicide goal have been suspended till the investigation is complete.” A show cause notice is also likely to be served to Delhi Premier League Sub Committee Chairman Rizwan Ul Haq.
