Ravi eyes ‘Super-Six’ as the gateway to reach the top level of Indian football

Calcutta Customs have ensured their berth in the ‘Super-Six’ phase of the CFL Premier Division for the first time in recent times.

Ravi Hasda, the top scorer of Calcutta Customs in the ongoing CFL Premier Division this season with six goals so far is eyeing the forthcoming 'Super-Six' phase as the gateway to reach the highest level of Indian football.

Calcutta Customs have ensured their berth in the ‘Super-Six’ phase of the CFL Premier Division for the first time in recent times.

The team will face East Bengal, Suruhi Sangha, Mohammedan Sporting, Diamond Harbour FC, and Bhawanipore in the Super-Six phase where the table leader will clinch the CFL Premier Division title finally.

The 25-year-old striker revealed that an inspiring performance can create an opportunity for him to obtain offers from I-League teams, even a national call-up in the future. "I am determined to score more goals in the Super-Six phase. Playing consistently can help me to get a chance of playing in the I-League, even in the ISL in the future which is my desire," said Ravi.

Ravi hails from a remote village named Saota in East Burdwan district. He still travels almost three hours every day from his home to Kolkata to attend training. His parents had a desire to see him settling as a footballer. “My father passed away recently. My mother who nowadays looks after farming in our small land wants me to establish myself as a footballer. I get a lot of encouragement from her," added Ravi.

In a bid to strengthen his preparation for the future, Ravi divulged his sir, Biswajit Bhattacharya, the coach of Calcutta Customs has a crucial role in guiding him. "I have heard our sir was also a prominent striker. Being a striker I always get technical advice from him to mature my game."

Customs although have qualified for the Super-Six of the CFL Premier Division, will have to face difficulty as six important footballers of their first eleven have joined different I-League teams.

Goalkeeping coach Partha Chakrabarty observes, "It is going to be tough for us. Still, we will not give up."

The club is waiting for the IFA's permission so that it can sign a few footballers to replace those who left the team.

The footballers along with the club’s cricket team were given felicitation at the club tent on Wednesday.
