RCB won by 18 runs against Lucknow Super Giants in a low-scoring match. Virat Kohli and Faf du Plessis scored 31 and 44 runs respectively for RCB. Hazlewood and Karan Sharma bagged two wickets each for the winning team.
RCB got off to a perfect start after they elected to bat winning the toss at the Ekana Sports City Stadium. Virat Kohli consumed 30 balls to score 31 runs. Captain Faf du Plessis registered 44 runs to reclaim the Orange Cap. Lucknow bowlers gave a good display and restricted RCB to 126/9. Amit Mishra and Bishnoi scalped two wickets each and Naveen-ul-Haq got three. Although rain interrupted the play, overs were not lost. KL Rahul got an injury while fielding.
Coming out to chase a target of 127, LSG suffered a top-order collapse. They lost five wickets in seven overs. Md Sirajand Maxwell brought early blows. Hazlewood and Karan Sharma bowled a tight spell. LSG lost wickets at regular intervals. Only Gowtham (23) showed some signs of an early fight. The host stopped at 108 in 19.5 overs giving RCB a win by 18 runs.
Tension continued to build post-match when Kohli and Naveen-ul-Haq exchanged words after the two teams completed post-match formalities. After this Kohli and Gautam Gambhir were found exchanging words before Amit Misra pushed Kohli away from the spot.
