Right from the kick-off Real maintained pressure on the Cadiz defence. Espino’s shot hit the post while the Cadiz custodian saved one from Asensio, Benzema, and Rodrygo. Benzema’s cracking shot hits the cross twice and Rodrygo came close twice but muffed those chances till Nacho broke the tie in the 72nd minute followed by another from Asensio within 5 minutes. 

This is a kind of league that is coming between the two quarterfinal matches of the Champions League against Chelsea. Despite that Real didn’t take the match lightly and was putting pressure on Cadiz’s defence right from kick-off.  The first half saw a mess of missed chances from Madrid as they took 17 shots, seven of which were on target.

When the goal didn’t come Madrid was not panicked. Manager Carlo Ancelotti didn’t make any early replacements instead had kept faith in Benzema, Rodrygo, and Asensio to find the way out for the breakthrough. In the end, the opening came through the ever-reliable defender Nacho and Asensio gave a respectable look to the score line.
