Riding on IPL success, Ajinkya Rahane finds a place in the WTC squad

Rahane has scored 209 runs in five innings at a strike rate of 199.5

BCCI has announced the Indian squad that will face Australia in the forthcoming ICC World Test Championship Final which will be played from June 7 to 11 this year at Oval England. 

Veteran Indian batter Ajinkya Rahane has made his return after 16 months in the team which will be lead by Rohit Sharma. Currently, Rahane is playing for CSK in the ongoing IPL and is in sublime form. 
Rahane played his last test in January 2022 in South Africa. Inspired by captain M. S. Dhoni, Rahane, in IPL 2023, has already scored a couple of ’50s for Chennai Super Kings. He has scored 209 runs in five innings at a strike rate of 199.5. 

All-rounder Shardul Thakur has also been included in the 15-man squad. The Indian squad: Rohit Sharma (captain) Subhman Gill, Cheteshwar Pujara, Virat Kohli, Ajinkya Rahane, K L Rahul, KS Bharat (wk), R Ashwin, Ravindra Jadeja, Axar Patel, S. Thakur, Md Shami, Md Siraj, Umesh Yadav, Jaydev Unadkat.
