In match 19 of the Indian Premier League KKR faced a defeat against Sunrisers Hyderabad by 23 runs here at Eden Gardens. Winning the toss the home team put SRH to bat first. Harry Brook scored his maiden IPL century, 100 off 55 balls. He was helped by Aiden Markram who scored a half-century off 26 balls. SRH piled up a huge total of 228/4 in 20 overs. Among the Knight bowlers, Russell took 3 wickets before he left the ground following an injury.
It wasn’t to be Rinku Singh tonight. Sixes still flowed from his bat but it was well out of reach in the final over. KKR came very close from the position where they were at the start when Bhuvneshwar Kumar and Jansen rattled the KKR innings 20/3. Captain Nitish Rana stood like a rock with a gallant knock of 75 runs in 41 balls. A late assault by Rinku put the crowd’s hope up. Bhuvneshwar Kumar came to bowl in the 15th and 18th overs and shattered the hope of KKR.
