Rinzuala says ‘no contest’ with David, cherishes the memory of Chhetri’s praise

Rinzuala dedicated the first hat-trick for Aizawl FC in the I-league to his parents, father Lal Diak Nia and mother Tei.

Mizoram has produced several Indian international footballers starting from Shylo ‘Mama’ to Jeje Lalpekhua. The football fraternity in Mizoram is nowadays asserting that the state has obtained its successors.

They are David Lalhlsanga who has been the top scorer in Kolkata Premier League this season and also scored three goals in two matches in the ongoing I-league.

The other striker is Rinzuala who earned the distinction of scoring the first-ever hat-trick in I-league in Aizawl FC history and also the first hat-trick of the ongoing I-league.

Rinzuala is being already termed ‘the goal machine’. During his student days at Bengaluru FC academy, this 20-year-old striker also was a prolific scorer. Having joined Gokulam FC he struck 11 goals in Kerala Premier League. Even in the Mizoram Premier League, Rinzuala has already scored 15 goals in 15 matches along with six assists.

He still cherishes the moment when Sunil Chhetri congratulated him for being the best footballer in the academy in 2017. Speaking from Aizawl over the phone, Rinzuala stated, “That was a memorable moment. Chhetri, my favorite Indian striker congratulated me, praising my performance."

Rinzuala then joining Gokulam FC also struck 11 goals in the Kerala Premier League.

However, he dedicated the first hat-trick for Aizawl FC in the I-league to his parents, father Lal Diak Nia and mother Tei. His father works as a driver at the state government while his mother is a housewife, looking after three more brothers and a sister.

Rinzuala stated, “The support they gave me to continue playing football was unforgettable. Then I should mention the name of our Bengaluru academy coach John Keneth Raj. His guidance helped me to learn the basics of the game and now, I am also thankful to Aizawl FC’s current coach Malsawmzuala. He motivates me a lot and gives me space to express own thoughts on the field."

Rinzuala is aware of David. He says, “I know he has been the top scorer in Kolkata Premier League. He is a very good striker. I watched him when he was playing for Aizawl FC last season. But, I do not want to join a race with him to become on the list of top scorers in the I-League. I want to help my team anyway to earn points."

Rinzula who is an ardent fan of Cristiano Ronaldo seems to have a different aim. That is to make improvements to his game constantly. That is why he watches the video clippings of his previous matches most of the time, especially before any match. His aim is to get a call-up from the ISL team and senior national coach.
