France coach Didier Deschamps held four key men of Spain before their all-important semi-final clash at Munich on Tuesday. Deschamps revealed during the media conference that Rodri and Dani Olmo have great control of the game which strengthens Spain in the midfield. 

He said, “When all the Spanish teams have that ability and those three in the middle including Dani Olmo. That ability to have great control of the game makes their midfield very strong, especially Rodri, an essential player for Spain. I think they have shown their quality from the start of the tournament. I think there is no pressure. They are the team that has dominated the most and that has left the best impression on everyone."

Deschamps simultaneously added saying that the inclusion of Lamal and Williams upfront made Spain more vertical. He explained, “Even if they do not have the same quality, they can give the Spanish team an extra quality, such as verticality. It makes Spain more vertical.”

When asked about Mbappe’s fatigue, the World Cup-winning coach said, “He came off after almost 110 minutes, and it was difficult for him in extra time, even though he was Kylian, who is feeling good. We have put the emphasis on recovery and we have done everything to get him back. Having an extra day of rest would have been better.” 

He continued, “We have done everything. It has nothing to do with the last game, but with everything that happened before, the end of the season, the preparation, with problems with his knee and back, and the trauma he had. It is always there. He could have left the tournament. We have to digest it and adapt to these new conditions. I am sure that tomorrow, like the rest of the group, we will give everything to be at our best.”

Deschamp however supported Mbappe playing with the mask stating, “Obviously, he is in a new situation, the fact of using a mask, he has a modified vision, he does not have a normal vision. He had a new shock, digesting the mask. With the bruise, which is now healed. In any case, he will have to adapt for months to wearing the mask.”
