Roger Federer joins popular band Coldplay for song during live concert

Federer posted a tweet on Monday calling the experience the ‘adventure of a lifetime’.

Just before the 2023 Wimbledon began, recently-retired tennis legend Roger Federer was spotted trying his hand at something else, performing with the popular band Coldplay.

In a video posted on social media, Coldplay front man Chris Martin can be seen introducing Federer as 'an original band member' just as he walks out on stage in Zurich.

The songwriter and lead vocalist for the band then says, "The band is back together" before they launch into Don’t Panic, one of the songs from the album Parachutes. At one point during the song, Martin asks the rest of the band to go quiet and urges Federer to continue with his shaker solo. Smiling broadly, the Swiss tennis maestro asks: “Is that okay?”

To this, Martin responds, “perfect”, before the band starts playing again.

With Federer out, Novak Djokovic will try to pull even with the Swiss tennis ace by earning title No 8 at the oldest of the four Grand Slam tennis tournaments. Djokovic is currently one ahead of the injured Rafael Nadal — and three ahead of the retired Federer — for the most singles majors won by a man, with 23.
