India skipper Rohit Sharma has finally been dropped from the playing eleven in India’s forthcoming Sydney Test in the ongoing Border-Gavaskar Trophy due to poor form. The Test will begin on Friday.

Jasprit Bumrah is likely to take on the captaincy mantle in Roht’s absence. Bumrah had led the team to an emphatic 295-run win in the series opener at Perth when Rohit was on paternity leave.

The Indian captain has been struggling with form, scoring only 31 runs from last five innings at an average of 6.20! Even he arrived late to India’s optional training session on Thursday and did not practice with the same intensity as his teammates at the SCG.

The uncertainty surrounding his inclusion was evident when, on Thursday, head coach Gautam Gambhir declined to confirm whether Rohit would feature in the team for the final match.
